Busy mom Bethenny Frankel loves to load up on all the things she needs for three-month-old baby Bryn and hubby Jason Hoppy without ever leaving home. And what’s the one beauty item she likes to stock up on most?

“Any kind of baby wipes,” The Real Housewives of New York City star declared yesterday at a tasty breakfast sponsored by Drugstore.com inside the newly renovated R Lounge at the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel in New York City. Of course, CGL was there.

“They’re great for under my eyes and the baby’s butt, and for wiping counters,” Bethenny shared with us before joking, “I’m going to wipe each of you before you leave.”

While that item definitely takes up much space in Bethenny’s virtual shopping cart, she always makes sure there’s a little extra room for a household regular, Metamucil!

“This and prune juice are my life,” Bethenny exclaimed holding up the familiar colorful canister.

“We call it orange in the house. It was one of the must bring items to the hospital when pregnant, though I didn’t know you weren’t allowed to eat or drink anything. I was happier about going to the bathroom than I was about having the baby. “

We’re sure both have been a pretty satisfying experience, Bethenny!

JERI RYAN: Keeping Her Garden Green!

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

CGL has a warning to all those pesky things that can spoil the perfect vegetable garden: Jeri Ryan is up for the fight!

“The first year I did my garden, it was perfect. The second, something came and demolished everything, so I had to get tough,” The “Star Trek” alum spills to CGL about her organic yearly harvest.

“Since I don’t spray pesticides or put tons of chemical fertilizer everywhere, Sluggo Snail and Slug bait is great,” Jeri says of the all-natural product.

She also protects “my lettuce, carrots and beets with covers,” Jeri declares. “It isn’t pretty, but it works. My fava beans and English peas are amazing.”

That’s great news for Gisele Émé, Jeri’s two-year-old daughter with famous French chef Christophe Émé, who’s inherited mom’s green thumb.

“If my husband asks for parsley, Gisele goes out in the garden, knows what plant it is and can pick it. She knows the difference between rosemary and thyme.”

Delish. We’re booking a reservation at Jeri and Christophe’s family restaurant, Ortolan is Los Angeles, Calif., this afternoon!

Getting the kids ready to go back to school? Be like Greg Grunberg and rack up the savings.

“We shop anywhere where Yowza is accepted. It’s a mobile coupon app I created for the iPhone, and it’s free,” he spills to CGL.

The “Heroes” alum came up with the idea while with his wife at Bed, Bath and Beyond. “You don’t go in there unless you have that coupon. We had it, but it was in the car door, and I was too lazy to go back to the car, literally,” he says.

“I said ‘Honey, this phone knows where I am, and I’ve got the power and the money – I’m the shopper – someone needs to create an app and bring the coupons to me.”

A year later, Yowza was born. Now accepted in more than 18,000 stores with over five million users, they handy dandy app will help Greg save money while stocking up on the number one item his three sons want most this school year.

“Backpacks, and nowadays it’s a fashionable thing,” Greg declares. “You need to have a logo on it. They’re into the X Games and football team logos.” A little savings definitely does come in handy for that!

No iPhone? No problem! Just visit Getyowza.com to download the program for the Blackberry, Android and Palm Pre. Happy shopping!

JEFF LEWIS: Redoing Your Kitchen!

CGL knows that the kitchen is the hearth of your home.

That’s why we made our way to New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza Monday night to take a peek inside House Beautiful magazine’s “Kitchen of the Year,” designed by real estate developer and TV reality star Jeff Lewis, who celebrated his night with a few famous Housewives.

“I love Southern California’s indoor, outdoor living, and I really wanted that here,” Jeff shared with CGL about the clean lines, earthy furnishings and sleek modern appliances he chose to complete his design, featured in a scale replica constructed in the middle of the plaza. Way cool!

“I wanted a lot of natural light and space to move around, so I don’t have to worry about bumping into furniture and cabinets,” he continued.

Of course, we asked him the most important question of the night, how to turn our own kitchen into an award-winning room, no matter what our budget. Check out his answer.

CGL HOME: How To Cook Like Patti LaBelle!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

If you want to impress your friends and neighbors at the dinner table, break out your recipe notebook and steal these cooking tips from Patti LaBelle!

“Tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, onions, cilantro and basil with a light oil on it, cause I can’t eat the heavy stuff,” she told us exclusively about her fave summer dish during the Elle Magazine Awards Wednesday night in New York City.

“That would be a complete meal with some wheat pasta,” the 66-year-old diva continued. Of course, you’ll want to serve it with some of her music as the singer revealed that she’s working on a new album.

We’re already drooling on both fronts. So we had to ask – what time are we coming over for dinner, Ms. LaBelle?

“7 o’clock tomorrow,” she declared.

The famed French-born chef, whose restaurants span the globe from Las Vegas to Shanghai, gets out the grill when it gets hot outside. And what does he toss on the coals?

“Chicken, fish – give into your cravings,” Jean exclaimed to us inside ABC Kitchen, his latest restaurant in New York City. “Food always taste better when you do.”
